Changing a Users Display Name and Primary SMTP address in Exchange.
How to change someones name in Exchange.
Perform the steps below when ever you need to change someones name in the Exchange addressbook (GAL) and their primary SMTP address.
Locate the user in the EMC.
In this first example, take note of the users Display Name, Alias, and Primary SMTP address. We will be changing the Display Name and the SMTP Address.
Open the users preferences and under the General tab, change their last name.
Go to the User Information tab. Type in a new last name, and new display name.
Note: To conform with the order of display names in the UNT GAL, the display name should be presented as Lastname, Firstname. Improper entry will result in a incorrect entry listing.
Click Apply.
Confirm that the name change has been applied by switching to the Email Addresses tab.
You should see the new SMTP address in bold, indicating that it is the primary address. You will also see that the old address is retained to catch any mail sent to the previous address.
**Show Image** If you return back to the EMC, you will see that the Display Name and primary SMTP has changed. The account name should remain as their EUID.
