Adding Public IM Contacts to Office Communicator 2007

We have now added connectivity to several public instant messagingservices. You may now add your AOL(AIM), Yahoo, MSN, My.unt.edu, .mac,ICQ, windowslive, GMail, and others to your contact lists in both Mac:Messenger and Office Communicator 2007 for PC.

While this feature is available, at the time of this writing (Feb/09)we only have a select number of licenses. If you would like public IMconnectivity, please contact your network support staff to have youraccount provisioned.

Step 1)

From the main menu (it's that little tiny downward pointing arrow that you might accidentally overlook), go to Tools, then select "Add a Contact..."

Step 2)

Choose to identify your contact by email address.

On a related note, the other option allows you to search the UNT directory (via the Outlook Address Book) for UNT contacts.

Step 3)

In the field provided, enter the contacts information.

contactname@yahoo.com
contactname@msn.com
contactname@mac.com
contactname@icq.com
FirstLast@my.unt.edu
contactname@gmail.com

Step 4) Select a contact group to place your contact, and click finish to complete. If you would like to add more contacts, click Next.

When you complete this process your will see your public IM contactsappear in your list with an icon to the right that identifies theservice that they are running on.
