I would like to subscribe to the UNT BlackBerry Enterprise Server, how do I go about getting my Exchange e-mail service to my BlackBerry device?

Before the activation process begins, it's important to contact your area IT Management Staff to arrange for activation. If we are contacted directly, we would still have to get in touch with your area staff prior to activation to make sure there are people available for personal assistance, if necessary. Contact us at: messaging@ad.unt.edu Please use this group address to prevent any delays in activation.

Step 1)

Ensure you are subscribed to the BlackBerry Enterprise Data plan through your voice/data provider. This is not the same as other data/internet plans or text messaging. Without it, activation is not possible.

Step 2)

Make arrangements for an IDO (or personal check) sent to CITC-Messaging at the Discovery Park for the one-time license fee. It’s currently $54.90, but it’s good to check on that to make sure it’s the same. We don’t need the license fee prior to activation, however, just a written request.

Step 3)

Once all the pre-requisites are in place, your area IT Management Staff will send an e-mail to messaging@ad.unt.edu requesting BlackBerry activation. Please ensure that we get the user’s name and primary UNT Exchange e-mail address (firstname.lastname@unt.edu) just so we can verify we have the right e-mail account matching the user.

Step 4)

Once the account is created on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, we have the server randomly generate an activation password and it then sends it to the user’s UNT Exchange account. Just follow the instructions in that e-mail to activate. Allow for two business days for activation passwords to be sent. Generally, this is easily done within an hour or two, but on occasion, meetings, training and other large projects prevent immediate attention to requests.
