Group Policy Objects

Group Policies in Active Directory will be deployed on two levels: baseline security policies from the domain and department-specific policies from the OU.

The baseline security policies will be determined by a working group consisting of the AD and Exchange administrators, the UNT Security Team and designated DCSMT members. These policies will ensure a minimal standard for a secure computing environment and will not allow overrides unless approved by the working group. As security concerns change in the Windows environment, the group will revise, test and implement new policies.

The department-specific policies will obviously be determined by the appropriate personnel within the departmental support group. These policies can be used for anything from workstation restrictions to deploying software. Check out the Tutorials section on our site to learn more.
